GrooveBlog Review: Is It The One?
Blogging and content creation has become an integral part of the doing business online. Groovedigital, the creators of Grooveblog, Groovepages and the platform called groovefunnels, is in the process of creating a shift in the online industry as a whole.
As an Avid user of groovefunnels, a lot of people(including me) who truly believed or was just excited by the Unbeatable offer, took the leap of paying the $1397 for the Lifetime license of the Pro version of groovefunnels.
My expectancy for grooveblog is WAY through the Roof!, Mike Filsaime has been releasing teasers in recent times and personally, I seem to think that while this is going to get people Riled Up, if he dosen't deliver on time, people are going to start getting impatient.
Below, am going to go over my speculations according to the teasers that have been released, now this does not give any guarantee of the final product as it has not yet been released and is still in the works.
I will break things down into three parts I think are the most useful when it comes to content creation and blogging:
- Compatibility
- Search Engine Optimization(SEO)
- User Experience and Visual appeal
- Themes
Compatibility
This simply has to do with how well grooveblog as a blogging platform is going to fit into the marketing and business ecosystem, what integrations will be available? how much drawback should we be expecting on the first release?
it should be able to connect to a mailing integration like mailchimp and groovemail Flawlessly, so we can send out news letters as soon as a new blogpost is released.
it should be able to work properly with the other apps in the groove ecosystem. in The sneak peek I really didn't see anything relating to compatibility, BUT, i noticed that they left the editing tools on the Right part of the screen just like in groovepages. see the pic below.
Search Engine Optimization(SEO)
Groovefunnels inbuilt page builder - groovepages is awesome when it comes to SEO, while there are some SEO features it lack... like sitemaps, there's no denying the fact that its a great platform when it comes to SEO.
some of the stuff that comes built into groovepages include: meta Keywords, meta description, openGraph image and openGraph title.
Replicating the stuff they did with groovePages on grooveblog might be easier or harder, I really don't know... personally I believe Grooveblog will be great, but for it to get to the levels of ghost, wordpress, or even wix... will definitely take a lot more time than most people would like, but since we've already paid the price, we believe in the vision that it'll get better and better!.
Below are some SEO features we got a glimpse of from the sneak peek.
From the pic above you can see that the text editor is more like the one on WordPress.
From the pic above, i think they are building a blogging editor more similar to the one n WordPress, but with actual seo capabilities. Taking a closer look you'll notice the 'hide comments' on the right, which means that it comes with a commenting system built-in, which platforms like ghost does not contain out of the box.
there's also the 'edit metadata' and 'edit opengraph' (as seen on the right. which are features we saw on groovepages.
User Experience and Visual appeal
As a funnel and graphics designer who also doubles us as a content marketer, I personally don't think grooveblog is visually appealing (according to the sneak peeks), reviewing things based on what I see is my job and I will do just that.
from the image above, the bar for the 'Heading Size', the colour choices for the combination is something else!.
Also, similar to what is done on ghost, I think there should be a general settings in the tabs menu, there's only see 4 tabs on the right side of the screen, but for some reason, I think things will be more polished when grooveblog is finally released!
Themes
Themes are an essential part of any blogging platfrom from wordpress to ghost all the way to the free blogger, you don't want 100 blogs looking exactly like your's.
There are free themes and paid themes on every blogging platform, while most people see the need to upgrade to a paid theme, I don't. Although if your pocket is fine with it go right ahead.
I don't think groooveblog will have any paid themes at the start, but as things start getting really advanced, independent developer will definitley be attracted to the platform and start creating themes that'll be up for sale!
On the sneak peek below, you'll notice the themes tab, which is the third tab from the top with the handshake icon. It was not revealed what themes will be available.
Above is the home tab which shows the posts, and their status.
In conclusion, i think it will be a Great Blogging platform which makes me so excited, what do you think?
